Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact on young lives by providing hands-on support and guidance? The Harrington Scheme is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team.

Location: 54 Cholmeley Park, London N6 5AD

Salary: £25,786 - £27,480 Pro Rata

Hours: 33.25 Per Week, Term Time Only

Job Type: Fixed term until 31st July 2025 (subject to funding this will be renewed)

Harington is an Ofsted-regulated training provider in North London, supporting around 50 young people with learning differences aged 16-25. We create an inclusive environment that offers personalised education and support in horticulture, retail, and employability skills through individualised programs and internships. We help our students to progress onto further education, employment opportunities, and a live fulfilling life.

Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - The Role:

This is an exciting time to join the Harington, as we have recently been inspected by Ofsted and have retained our grade of Good. We want to ensure that Harington is able to fulfil and secure its mission to benefit our young people, both now and into the future.

Join our talented team as a Learning Support Assistant in North London. Come and support our students aged 16 - 25 with learning differences, with their learning, work experience, personal growth and independence. You'll play a vital role in safeguarding their welfare and fostering their development.

Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Key Responsibilities:

- Provide support for individual students and small groups during sessions and work experience

- Assist with preparing materials for activities, ensuring effective staff communication

- Attend to students' needs throughout the day, especially during breaks

- Help with students personal care, hygiene, meals, and medication needs

- Collaborate with keyworkers to monitor student progress and address challenges

- Maintain records and contact parents when appropriate

- Attend team meetings and undertake necessary training

- Support students during external placements and perform administrative tasks

- Work with staff to create learning plans and risk assessments

- Contribute to student reports and ensure a safe environment

- Safeguard the welfare of children and vulnerable adults

- Undertake other tasks as directed by management

Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - You:

We are looking for an empathetic and patient individual with strong verbal and written communication abilities, to empower students by promoting independence and choice. The ideal candidate will have:

- Experience working with learners with learning disabilities, ideally within a classroom setting

- Literacy and numeracy skills with at least grade 4 in GCSE Maths & English

- The ability to support young people with learning disabilities in a variety of settings including: classroom, gardening activities and on work experience

- A good level of digital skills and be able to use a range of IT software including Microsoft Office

- Experience in retail or experience of supporting people into employment

- Be able to display an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults

- A keen interest in gardening
