POSITION: Mental Health Intern - Social Work: Confirmed Placement
GRADE LEVEL: Grades 6-12
LOCATION: Multiple locations and/or a specific pre-agreed upon campus.
SALARY: This is an Unpaid Position
STATUS: Part Time, Fixed-Term Intern (13-20 hours per week- dependent on Graduate School requirements)
START: First day of internship will be agreed upon with your campus(es) school director(s) and/or MSW supervisor.
DIRECTIONS:
Welcome to DSST! We're glad to have you! You've been directed to this page if you've confirmed a placement with one of our MSW Supervisors/Mentor Teachers (i.e., you've been accepted into a partnering Graduate School and your Mentor Teacher has agreed to host you).
1. Click the "Apply" button to be directed to the Pathways Placement Form. The purpose of this form is not evaluative. Please consult with your Mentor Teacher as needed to complete, or reach out to tori.ciucci@scienceandtech.org with any questions.
2. You will be prompted to enter your Work Experience. You may enter "N/A" in required fields if you do not have work experience.
3. You will be prompted to enter your Education. You may enter your current GPA, as we understand your degree may be in progress.
4. Completion of this Pathways Placement Form kicks off DSST's onboarding process. Upon submission, you should receive an email from Workday. Please check your email's junk mail folder if you do not receive it, before emailing humanresources@scienceandtech.org for support.
5. You must complete ALL onboarding requirements prior to your placement start date to be approved to start.
6. Note: Scheduling your fingerprinting appointment is time-sensitive. This appointment is required to complete your background check. You may have already completed a background check for your college or university. You must also complete this appointment per the directions provided by DSST in Workday, in addition. Please read ALL directions carefully when you receive instructions.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide 1:1 counseling support to our general education students and consult to develop appropriate goals
- Participate in crisis management by observing protocols, providing counseling and/or making referrals
- Progress monitor students and strengthen social emotional skills after crisis protocols are conducted for 6-12 weeks
- Facilitate small group social emotional learning groups
- Participate in developing Behavior Intervention Plans through data collection of evaluations and student observations
- Participate on multidisciplinary teams to advocate and support student best interests (examples: MTSS, Attendance Team, Culture Team)
- Participate in school-based and DPS professional development opportunities
- Support with parent psychoeducation evenings with school based CERM and Mental Health Teams
- Incorporate Graduate School projects and assignments into field experience as required
- Bachelor's Degree and acceptance into partnering Graduate School
- An unwavering belief that all students can succeed in school, reach their most ambitious post-secondary goals, and lead exemplary lives
