Job Description

Teaching Personnel is looking for empathetic and dedicated SEN 1:1 Support Assistants to join our team in Plymouth. This role involves providing tailored assistance to students with additional needs, including those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). You’ll play a crucial role in supporting children who may face challenges such as ADHD, Autism, trauma, or other behavioural and emotional difficulties, helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive educational setting.

Role and Responsibilities:

Deliver personalized 1:1 support to students, adapting approaches to meet each child’s unique needs.
Use effective strategies to support students with challenging behaviours, including de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed practices.
Foster a positive and safe environment, encouraging students to engage and thrive.
Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals to implement support plans effectively.
Track and record students' progress, including any incidents, and regularly report back to the wider team.
Assist with creating an inclusive classroom environment that values diversity and individual growth.
Qualifications and Experience:

Previous experience working with children or vulnerable individuals with additional needs (experience in education, healthcare, or social services is advantageous).
Familiarity with Autism, ADHD, trauma-informed approaches, and behaviour management techniques.
Excellent communication skills and a patient, understanding approach to working with young people.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or Health & Social Care) are preferred but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
