Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Music Teacher for a full-time maternity cover position at a respected secondary school in Reddish, Stockport. Starting in January, this role offers an opportunity to join a school known for its strong sense of community and commitment to educational excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging music lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering students’ musical abilities and appreciation for the subject.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Delivery: Teach Music to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering a broad curriculum that includes theory, practical skills, and appreciation of diverse musical genres and traditions. Ensure lessons are in line with national curriculum standards.
Lesson Planning: Design well-structured and varied lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and abilities. Incorporate technology, instruments, and multimedia resources to create interactive and engaging music lessons.
Practical Skills Development: Guide students in developing instrumental and vocal skills, as well as proficiency in music technology and composition. Provide opportunities for individual and group performances within the classroom.
Assessment and Feedback: Conduct regular assessments through practical performances, assignments, and written evaluations. Provide constructive feedback to help students develop their skills and confidence.
Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment where students feel comfortable to explore and express their creativity.
Extra-Curricular Involvement: Lead or assist with extra-curricular music activities, such as school concerts, choir, or instrumental ensembles. Inspire students to engage in music beyond the classroom.
Preparation for Exams: Support Key Stage 4 students in preparing for their music assessments and GCSE exams, focusing on performance, composition, and theoretical knowledge.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the music department and wider school staff to share resources and teaching strategies. Participate in department meetings and contribute to curriculum planning.
Communication with Parents: Maintain open lines of communication with parents and carers, providing updates on student progress and offering support for at-home practice when needed.
Ideal Candidate:

Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree in Music or a related field.
Experience: Prior experience teaching music at the secondary level, with knowledge of the Key Stage 3 and 4 music curriculum and assessment criteria.
Skills: Strong instrumental and vocal skills, along with experience in music technology and composition. Effective classroom management skills and the ability to inspire students with varying levels of musical background.
