Head of Conveyancing
Location: Reading
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000

A leading firm in Reading seeks an experienced Head of Conveyancing to manage and develop the conveyancing department. This is an excellent opportunity for a conveyancer looking to take on a leadership role and advance their career in a supportive environment.

The Role:

As the Head of Conveyancing, you will manage the operations of the conveyancing department. This includes both the fee earning and administrative teams. You will handle a caseload, manage team performance, and ensure excellent customer service. Your role will also involve improving case management systems, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting business development.

You will work with senior management to grow the business, meet targets, and maintain high standards. This role offers a chance for a motivated individual to take a leadership role and drive department growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of conveyancing matters
  • Oversee the performance of the fee earning and administrative teams
  • Ensure all cases comply with regulations, including CQS and SRA standards
  • Provide excellent customer service and improve client relationships
  • Set and monitor departmental and individual performance targets
  • Lead business development to attract new clients and referrals
  • Review staff performance and provide coaching, training, and feedback
  • Manage operational systems, processes, and policies within the department
  • Support senior management in delivering business strategy
  • Lead recruitment and onboarding of new staff

About You:

The ideal candidate will have:
  • At least 6 years’ experience in conveyancing
  • Experience with freehold, leasehold, shared ownership, equity transfer, remortgages, and refinancing
  • Strong leadership skills and team management experience
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks effectively
  • A focus on quality, customer service, and continuous improvement
  • Experience in performance and process management
  • The ability to work with financial information
