General Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for the Finishing Areas whist on shift. You will the lead for management of the shift activities to achieve the completion of required products OTIF. In the absence of any departmental management you will be responsible for the whole Finishing department and you may also have to make decisions on C&C and Print (Whole operational area).


Purpose of Role:

  • To ensure a safe working environment where quality product is produced on time and in full through effective organisation, co-ordination and resource management. To continually improve in areas.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and manage the ‘Commitments’ and subsequent production plans to completion
  • Work with departmental managers to ensure all maintenance is carried out and logged.
  • Ensure correct PPE worn at all times, accidents / incidents are investigated and reported thoroughly
  • Stringent housekeeping and hygiene standards are being maintained at all times
  • Support in achieving plans and targets in all aspects of the operation.
  • To control the flow of work through the finishingdepartment to ensure quality product & OTIF
  • Organise cover for breaks, and be involved in manning cover for holiday and sickness
  • Liaise with Planning, Print Cut & Crease and the warehouse to ensure working to schedule
  • Pro-actively identify threats and opportunities to the Plan
  • Ensure compliance with all existing systems, standards and procedures
  • Reports & Investigations ~ Job specific as directed
  • Drive performance in areas such as: HSE, RFT quality, OTIF, downtime, CTTF, & waste reduction.
  • First point of contact; undertaking RTWI, investigations and hearings for disciplinary & grievances.
  • Conduct meetings & briefings to colleagues on best practice & business expectations.
  • Any other duties as deemed reasonable within role


Skills, Interpersonal Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience of working within a Packaging environment preferred
  • Knowledge and support of BRC, ISO9001, ISO12647, ISO18001, ISO1400
  • Experience in the implementation of continuous improvement techniques
  • Strong Management / Leadership Skills (Man, machine & methods)
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment – FMCG
  • Strong cost awareness and problem solving skills
  • You must be able to lead, mentor, encourage and motivate resources
  • Lead improvements and changes wherever necessary to meet business needs
  • Excellent communication skills, tenacity and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic, with a positive, passionate attitude and ownership
  • Computer literate at intermediate level in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • A full clean UK Diving License is essential. Some travel may be required.
  • Be articulate and able to present information to a variety of audiences
  • A enthusiastic, proactive, self-motivated individual, who can multitask in a pressurised environment
  • Skilled written and verbal communicator.
  • Problem solver, decision maker and leader.
  • Flexibility to stand in for other roles and possible multiple site working.
