Job Description
Carmichaels are seeking a Section Engineer wit Highways experience to work for a Tier 1 contractor in the South of London.
Responsibilities will include:
• Checking technical information (specifications and drawings); identification of any ambiguities or shortcomings therein and submission of Technical Queries to enable their resolution; take off materials from drawings
• Ensuring the Site Engineers are fully conversant with the construction methodology for the civil engineering works
• Managing the development of HSEQ controls for the civil engineering works;
• Managing the detailed look-ahead programme for the civil engineering works in AIMs;
• Delegation of dimensional control to the Site Engineers and ensuring that the Temporary and Permanent Works are consistently and accurately set out
• Managing the calibration of survey equipment and liaison with the Survey Team;
• Assistance with the day-to-day management of the civil engineering works and the coordination of civil engineering operations with those of other disciplines;
• Safety management duties as delegated by line management;
• Assistance with the management and control of resources (labour, plant and materials) to minimise waste and disruption to progress;
• Reporting at weekly construction team meetings, including progress, any stoppages, additional work instructed and any opportunities for performance improvement;
• Ensuring that complete and accurate records are kept of the civil engineering work to protect the company’s interests and demonstrate compliance with HSEQ requirements
Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications
• Civil Engineering degree or equivalent.
• 2-5 years site experience in Civil Engineering
• Ability to manage a section site engineering team.
• Competent on CAD software and excel
