The Role

As the Continuous Improvement Specialist at FSCS you will support the Customer area by identifying areas of opportunity to improve services and efficiency.

By combining analysis, project management and business acumen you will drive continuous improvement projects that are medium term - more complex than team level "fixes" and less significant than multi-year transformation programmes.

Priorities

  • Identify opportunities for improving processes to drive efficiency or customer service improvements.
  • Size the benefits available for improvements using standard Lean principles.
  • Work with stakeholders to design solutions to deliver the improvement opportunities - take the idea and make it a practical possibility including using technology, revising processes and procedures and challenging conventions to come up with the best possible solutions.
  • Lead the implementation of the initiative - drive action through standard project management approaches and coordination of activity.
  • Track and monitor the benefits associated with the initiatives - build reporting templates, liaise with MI team to automate where possible.
  • Share results and other opportunities with senior stakeholders to ensure their support and manage their expectations.

Knowledge, skills and experience

We have identified the following skills, knowledge, and experience as essential for success in this role however we understand that everyone's learning journey is different and there is no one size fits all. If you feel you have many of the below strengths but don't tick all the boxes, we'd still love to hear from you.

  • Financial Services experience within an Operations environment.
  • Experience in analysing processes and using this to bring insight with actionable plans to deliver change, improvements, efficiencies, and benefits.
  • Strong data skills and be proficient in Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills - there is no specific need for formal Lean qualifications, but you must understand the basic principles of waste elimination.
  • Be a proactive and persuasive "Champion for Change".
  • Demonstrate a strong level of awareness of claims handling and current operational procedures across a range of financial products.
  • Excellent planning and organising abilities.
  • Outstanding customer service, through purposeful and relevant interactions with them
  • A high level of confidence in making decisions and ensuring the implementation of decision is followed through.
  • An ability to share knowledge and experience with others and evidence effective outcomes of this.
