Job Summary:
The Master Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand's Industrial Technologies and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining all makes of rotary screw and reciprocating and/or Centac and ECC air compressors, along with additional compressed air system components. This is the highest-level Service Technician within Ingersoll Rand. Candidates will use precision measuring tools for diagnostic trouble shooting of compressed air equipment. In addition, you need to have knowledge of all operations and parts manuals associated with all equipment.
Responsibilities:
Core & Senior technician responsibilities plus the following:
Formally assigned as a subject matter expert and is committed to assisting others in addition to completing their own service assignments. Expected to consult with other technicians and supervisors in multiple areas of expertise.
Become certified as a technician trainer and partners with the service supervisor to develop Technician competencies.
Rarely requires direct supervision for the completion of maintenance and repairs
Assists supervisor to plan, oversee and participate in customer shutdown services that may involve tight time commitments and rotating shift work with other technicians and contractors
Participates as a local trainer and may be tasked to participate as a trainer for corporate technician training programs.
May be tasked to participate in reviewing and authoring technical publications, job aids, and training materials
May be asked to provide feedback and documentation and participate in problem-solving regarding equipment safety, failure modes, or reliability to technical services and engineering teams.
Basic Qualifications:
External applicants must have 10+ years of prior air compressor service experience and pass (test out) Ingersoll Rand product and skill training assessment.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Desired degree program in Electrical/Electronic Technology or HVAC with basic knowledge of some or all of the following: AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams/schematics, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity, controls, refrigeration systems and/or refrigerant certification.
- Military experience and/or sufficient mechanical working experience is a plus. Candidates who possess this knowledge or skills but have not completed a formal program may be considered.
EPA 608 /F-GAS 303/2008/CE/ISHRAE Certification Preferred (Refrigeration experience/certification a plus).?
IR certification for troubleshooting and repair of a wide range of products and air compressor systems. Should have IR training certification to complete repairs and maintenance for equipment types in nearly all air systems.
Operate with little or no direct supervision for the completion of maintenance and repairs
Ability to perform parts ID, and “self-serve” technical documentation, knowledge articles to ensure timely and quality maintenance and repairs with little or no supervision.
Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting competency to research complex technical problems and find solutions. Is often consulted by other technicians or supervisors in one or more areas of expertise.
Ability to solve undocumented problems and create new solutions/approaches to service.
Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI in the previous 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
Physical Requirements
This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage) with NFPA or equivalent standards.
This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move weight limits in line with the safety policy.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:
Ability to travel to an Ingersoll Rand training location requiring airline travel and up to 2 weeks out-of-town travel to conduct, lead, or assist with training. (5-10%).
Key Competencies:
Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and other basic computer usage. Working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad) and network bases.
Customer service skills such as conflict resolution, communication, negotiation, etc.
Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost-efficient manner.
Mechanical competency to be able to learn, diagnose, and troubleshoot compressor systems and machinery.
