Judge & Priestley are now recruiting for an Debt Recovery Engagement Officer within our Claims & Enforcement Team.

Our highly respected Credit Solutions Department is looking for an enthusiastic, resilient and driven individual to join them in the newly created role. The team is ranked in the Top Tier of the Legal 500 and deals with a wide range of commercial and consumer debt recovery matters, including complex commercial disputes and insolvency issues. The Claims and Enforcement Team are tasked with seeking the recovery of a broad range of debts for commercial and public sector clients. The team carries out Collections, Pre-Litigation, Litigation and Enforcement activity. In the current climate it is critical that we engage with Debtors in order to resolve objections for payment and secure recovery of the debt owed as quickly as possible. That engagement may come at any time during our recovery cycle.

Key Responsibilities

In this newly created role you will be dealing with cases where there is a requirement to use your strong communication skills to engage directly with the Debtor resolving complex disputes in order to recover the debt. You will also manage cases at various stages of the recovery cycle as well as taking control of specific engagement tasks on cases managed by other officers.

You will also be required to action new client instructions, including recording of case contact details and take agreed actions to attempt to recover the debt, including issuing of standard written correspondence through Visual Files. You will make outbound collections/engagement calls to individuals/companies as well as dealing with inbound calls/inbound engagement via alternative medium e.g., emails, letters, SMS, Webchat etc. You will also be required to highlight and deal with vulnerable customers effectively whilst adhering to industry regulation and guidelines.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

You will have experience of working in a debt recovery role

Previous experience of using case management systems

High level of customer engagement and negotiation skills

Legal knowledge (desirable)

Qualifications

Educated to GCSE standard grade A-C in Mathematics and English (or equivalent)

Law Degree (desirable)
