Student Careers Officer
Salary; £25,600 per annum + benefits
Hours; Full time (37hrs per week, all year round)
Duration; Temporary (12 month funded position)
Location; Rotherham College, Rotherham
About the Role
In this exciting role of Student Careers Officer, you will be focused on providing excellent careers, employability information, advice and guidance to a targeted cohort of students in their progression.
As a key member of our careers team, you will deliver a high level of careers information, advice and guidance supporting students with their choices in regards to their career progression and set career targets to support students to positive destinations through varied initiatives.
An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the routes available including up-to-date labour market information is essential. You will work collaboratively within Rotherham campus and with our external partners to advocate on behalf of students and reinforce our partnership network.
You will provide our students with the information, opportunities and experiences they need to make decisions on future studies or employment at the end of their time at college.
This is a role in which you can genuinely change lives through offering students the support and guidance they need to help them decide the steps they need to take in order to help them achieve their aspirations.
You’ll be committed to providing excellent information, advice and guidance on careers and employability to the targeted students, helping them to secure the very best outcomes.
You will…
You will have experience within Information, Advice and Guidance related work with students aged 14-16, 16-18, 19+ and learners with High Needs.
You will have experience and feel confident creating innovative resources and deliver to groups.
You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or be willing to undertake). You will also have a Level 3 in Advice and Guidance (or be working towards).
You should have knowledge of qualifications within Further Education and progression opportunities available and be able to advice appropriately.
Department Info
You will report directly to the Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance Leader working as part of the Careers Team and will work with our Students Support team, referring students onto them as required, for instance if a student is experiencing financial or emotional issues.
To promote college, you will be required to attend open events and external events on occasion which may take place at the College main site or at external locations.
