Santander Consumer Finance is one of the UK's Leading Motor Finance companies and we are currently looking for a Sales Director with extensive experience in Contract Hire.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the purpose of this key, senior sales management position is to lead SCUK's Contract Hire sales division, with the aim of delivering its budgeted commercial objectives through the effective leadership of a national sales team and through establishing and maintaining a first class relationship with key OEM, Retailer and Business partners and all relevant internal business functions and stakeholders.
The role will be home based and there will be the requirement to visit the Redhill and Milton Keynes office on a regular basis.
This role is a certified role under the SMCR regime.
Responsibilities will include:
- To develop and document a comprehensive and coherent sales development strategy for SCUK's Contract Hire business unit
- Lead and develop SCUK's Contract Hire sales team, through documenting a set of clear, well-communicated objectives and through on-going direction, coaching and guidance of staff as necessary
- To develop an annual activity plan outlining timings and high-level deliverables for the business unit and gain approval for annual spend
- Lead the delivery SCUK's Contract Hire business unit annual plan in line with prescribed budget, through ongoing review and monitoring of costs
- Establish a sound working relationship with senior management at OEMs, Retailers, Business partners, and with all relevant internal stakeholders including other members of the commercial management team, other SCUK business functions and with the organisation's Executive Committee (ExCo)
- lead SCUK's Contract Hire business unit in delivering both the optimum level of business from existing sales channels as well as supporting the launch of new strategic business opportunities
- ensure that appropriate oversight of all sales channels and intermediaries is maintained through ongoing, documented business reviews produced in the prescribed format that focusses on both commercial and customer outcome related metrics
- Ensure all sales intermediary remuneration and incentives are in line with company policy and that pricing mandates for commission terms are adhered to
- In conjunction with SCUK's PR and Events Manager, agree an annual events calendar and leverage off the wider organisation's PR and events activity and suppliers
- Ensure all activity conducted by the SCUK Contract Hire business unit is carried out in a compliant manner from a legal, regulatory and business perspective, with specific focus on ensuring sustainability and driving good customer outcomes
- Adhering to our commitment to Consumer Duty ensuring we put our Customers' needs first and set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection
What we're looking for:
- Previous demonstrable experience in direct Business to Business (B-2-B) corporate sales experience within the Contract Hire sector
- Have extensive, wider commercial experience in Contract Hire sales and Business Development within the motor related financial services arena
- Have previously held senior management positions that require leading business units at both strategic and operational levels
- Previous experience in leading a team and possess genuine leadership qualities by being able to direct, guide, motive, and coach colleagues as appropriate
- Must have demonstrable experience of working in an organisation where multiple stakeholder management was common and where exposure to external OEM partners and Corporate clients was prevalent
- Is well versed in producing sound strategic and working documentation and presentations, including business case proposals, briefs and tenders
- Must possess first class written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with and present to both internal and external stakeholders across all levels of the business
- Has a strong understanding of legal, regulatory and compliance issues relating to contract hire sales, finance sales and customer management within the financial services sector, and is familiar with the FAC's principles of business and code of conduct
- Would benefit from having worked as a senior Subject Matter Expert (SME), supporting project implementation within the Contract Hire market from both an operating model and system development perspective
- The position will require international as well as domestic travel from time to time
- The jobholder must possess a full driving license
