Job Title: Deputy Head of Year
Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary Range: £150 per day
Start Date: 25th November 2024
Contract: Temporary with the possibility of being up to one year
Working Hours: 08:15-16:15
Are you an experienced and compassionate professional looking for an opportunity to make a difference in students’ lives?
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and proactive Deputy Head of Year to join a secondary school in Tower Hamlets. If you have experience in pastoral activities, enjoy working with students and parents, and have a good knowledge of SIMS, we’d love to hear from you!
Responsibilities of the Deputy Head of Year:
Support the Head of Year in managing and overseeing two-year groups.
Use SIMS effectively to track student data and monitor academic progress.
Call parents and communicate important updates or concerns regarding student welfare and progress.
Supervise and engage with students, helping to maintain a positive and supportive environment.
Provide cover for one lesson per week as part of the role.
Contribute to the delivery of various pastoral activities, ensuring students receive the necessary support for their academic and personal development.
Assist in the development and implementation of year group events and initiatives.
Work closely with teaching and support staff to promote student well-being and create a positive learning atmosphere.
Requirements of the Deputy Head of Year:
Experience working in a pastoral or student support role within a school environment.
Strong knowledge and experience using SIMS.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with students, staff, and parents.
Ability to manage and support students across two year groups, helping them thrive academically and personally.
A proactive, compassionate, and approachable attitude.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is not mandatory.
Enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
