REF: TRP12112024 Job Title: TEMPORARY Regulatory Paralegal (6 MONTH POST) Reporting to: Registrar & Director of Regulation Location: University Street, Belfast Hybrid Working Salary: £27k Closing date: Friday 29th November 2024 Regulatory Paralegal The purpose of this role is to provide high quality dedicated paralegal support to the Registrar in fulfilling her statutory obligations in respect of the initial screening, investigation and referral of concerns, and more generally to the in-house fitness to practice team in terms of the progression of fitness to practise cases to the Scrutiny and Statutory Committee. Duties include: Assist with the initial screening and investigation of fitness to practice cases, including gathering and reviewing relevant documentation, liaising with complainants, pharmacists, pharmacies and stakeholders, conducting legal research, and preparing case summaries, reports and notices Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and records Ensure cases are correctly managed in the Societys case management system Ensure compliance with data protection legislation in maintaining and managing records Assist in the production of performance related data for the fitness to practise team, including key performance indicators (KPIs) Provide legal administrative support for the team, as required Liaise and work with other departments to assist in the delivery of projects Person Criteria Essential: Strong academic background including a degree in law (2.1 as a minimum) Ability to work on own initiative and take ownership of task in hand Experience of planning and prioritising own workload to meet tight deadlines and objectives Ability to work at pace with strong attention to detail Prioritises with the minimum of supervision Experience in liaising with stakeholders of all levels and can adapt to multidepartment business needs Experience drafting and compiling correspondence of a sensitive and complex nature A proactive, positive attitude, and a good team player Ability to manage caseload and case management systems to achieve KPIs Preparation of hearing bundles for Scrutiny Committee meetings and Statutory Committee hearings Ability to assimilate voluminous amounts of information Sound and balanced decision making Ability to interpret and apply legislation, frameworks and policies Desirable: Experience in a regulatory / fitness to practice legal environment Salary £27k To apply for this post - please submit an up to date CV along with a Cover letter - applications without a cover letter will not be considered Closing date - 29th November 2024 Skills: Paralegal Regulatory Paralegal
