Job Title: Material's Controller / Saw Person

Location: Blaydon on Tyne

Salary: £13- £14 per hour depending on experience, based on experience.

Job type: Full Time – Permanent.

Position Overview:
The Material Controller will be responsible for managing and controlling materials within the production facility, ensuring smooth operations by supplying and cutting materials according to production requirements. The role requires the ability to operate automatic bandsaws and guillotines, manage inventory, and handle materials safely using a forklift. A strong understanding of different materials is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Management: Oversee all material movements, including receiving, storing, and issuing materials to the production floor.
  • Cutting and Processing: Manage the cutting and processing of materials utilising two automatic saws and guillotine to ensure they are ready for production, meeting quality and timeline requirements. Also ensure the processing areas are clean and tidy.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain accurate records of material inventory, conducting regular audits to ensure stock accuracy and availability.
  • Coordination with Stores: Collaborate with the Stores and Dispatch Manager to ensure seamless integration of material management processes with overall warehouse operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure all material handling processes comply with industry standards and company policies, including health and safety regulations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the production, quality assurance, and procurement teams to ensure materials are available as needed and meet all specifications.
  • General: Assist with general labouring tasks around the production facility as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar role preferably in the engineering or manufacturing sector.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to material handling.
