Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join our dynamic team. The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of various projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, reporting, invoicing and collections. This role requires a blend of accounting expertise and project management skills to support the successful delivery of projects within budget and financial constraints.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management: Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets. Track and report on financial performance and project costs.
  • Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular financial reports and analysis to project managers and stakeholders. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of project financial status.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development and management of project budgets. Perform variance analysis and update forecasts based on project changes and developments.
  • Invoicing & Payments: Oversee the invoicing process, ensuring timely and accurate billing of clients. Manage accounts receivable for project-related transactions.
  • Collections: Manage the collections process for project-related receivables. Follow up with clients on overdue invoices, negotiate payment terms, and resolve any issues related to payments.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain thorough records of all financial transactions related to projects. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers to understand financial requirements and constraints. Support project planning and execution with financial insights and recommendations.
  • Audit & Reconciliation: Conduct regular reconciliations of project accounts and resolve any discrepancies. Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits as required.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems related to project accounting. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Project Accountant or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong customer service (internal/external), interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices is advantageous.
Additional Information:
  • Some travel and overtime may be required.
  • Quarterly regional travel might be necessary.
