Job Description
O’Hagan Meyer is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join its office located in Hermosa Beach, CA. The individual in this role primarily supports attorneys with general commercial litigation defense. Candidates must have a minimum of 1+ years of experience as Legal Assistant.
Primary duties might include but are not limited to:
- Aid attorneys in discovery process; including drafting responses to interrogatories, requests for production and other discovery requests.
- Prepare and send subpoenas.
- Claim investigation including interviewing witnesses, taking statements, gathering documents and evidence, etc.
- Prepare case analysis, identify issues, omissions, and discrepancies.
- Compose and type document production including case analysis memoranda for attorneys, outline and narrative summaries, correspondence, and reports.
- Compile data for exhibits
- Conduct research for expert retention and compile information to provide consulting expert
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Assist attorneys to ensure they are properly supported in their commitment to clients including legal support of a matters’ lifespan with the firm.
- Preparation and organization of appropriate communication related to matter opening, engagement letters, status updates, deadlines, depositions, hearings, or trial.
- Work with various administrative teams within the firm related to matter opening, appropriate file organization, closure and retention.
Previous State and Federal court rules and procedures experience preferred; excellent computer skills with knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, MS Excel, and MS Office, including Outlook; Previous experience with iManage also a plus; excellent oral and written communication skills; detail oriented and able to work independently as well as with the team with a positive attitude and exceptional organizational skills.
