PURPOSE

Under the general direction of the Senior Commercial Loan Specialist, with further direction from the Commercial Lending Team Leader or Senior Commercial Lending Officer, helps in the administration of commercial loans in conformance with established Bank policies, strategies, and procedures. Performs any functions necessary, within the scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of customer service and responsiveness to the financial needs of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations served by the Bank.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform administrative duties for the Commercial Lending Department including loan administration, customer calling, management of daily transactions for the commercial customer base, and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Prepare legal documentation and perfect security interests for commercial loan closings in compliance with State Laws and Bank Policy.
  • Oversee and manage loans in the application or renewal process by ensuring that all required reports are ordered on time, all government regulations are being complied with, Term Letters/Applications, and Loan Commitment Letters are consistent with approved Loan Proposal/T&C's ("terms and conditions" sheets), closing attorneys are provided with accurate closing figures, and closing conditions as stipulated in the T&C are met before closing.
  • Act as intermediary contact for all commercial customers for all bank needs and products, cross-sell Bank products as opportunities arise. Interface with customers, attorneys, and Bank officers to respond to inquiries, problems, or loan status issues.
  • Responsible for maintenance of the Commercial Pipeline Report and Commercial Construction Loan Portfolio Status Report. Work with lending officers to ensure that reports are current and accurate.
  • Review new loan/maintenance reports generated from operating systems to assure compliance with Loan Policy, Regulatory Requirements, and the Bank's Board of Trustee's approval and ensure compliance with legal requirements, lean approval authorities, and perfection of corrections and consult with Loan Operations Officer, if necessary.
  • Responsible for post-approval processing and funding of loan commitments. Interact with Bank Counsel to resolve any closing issues with the assistance of the Loan Officer. Work with the Loan Officer to ensure that all closing conditions (T&C) have been met and/or that necessary approval is obtained to close without certain conditions met.
  • Monitor daily DDA activity and make an appropriate determination of actions to be taken on each commercial account with approval from the Loan Officer.
  • Book commercial loans into the commercial loan operating system (Abrigo & LaserPro).
  • Prepare all necessary commercial loan notes and related documents (C&I) to ensure efficient and accurate processing of loans. Prepare loan packages for approval. Maintain a log of commercial applications/Term Letters.
  • Responsible for departmental monthly HMDA-LAR reporting.
  • Prepare construction loan advances through Built System, and prepare revolving line of credit advances for processing.
  • Review commercial account overdrafts and monitor daily balance requirements.
  • Review and maintain all new commercial loans and commercial real estate loans for the required documentation, collateral, and insurance.
  • Order flood determinations, environmental screenings (e.g., CREtelligent), credit reports, tax service, and other reports required in the loan application/term letter process.
  • Inform the loan officer of exceptions. Create and/or maintain files for UCC filings, vehicle titles, insurance binders, and insurance cancellations and obtain renewal binders. Monitor insurance coverage for loans in flood zones.
  • Small Business Administration (SBA) programs - Submit information to SBA for approval through the SBA E-Tran System.
  • Ensure that the Commercial Lending activities are carried out under all regulatory, legal, and governmental regulations and with adherence to internal control policies and procedures.
  • Assist in all facets of commercial banking and business loan processing including origination, processing, and closing.
  • Provide administration support to loan staff and assist the lender with the lending function of the department, prepare loan documents, calculate closing figures, process loan payments, and credit inquiries, maintain routine file documents, and respond to customer inquiries along with numerous day-to-day operational needs.
  • Follow current loans and credit lines to ensure complete compliance with terms.
  • Assist the Loan Operations in the resolution and any commercial loan-related problems.
  • Adhere to the Bank's privacy and data security policies including but not limited to safeguarding of sensitive information and complying with relevant regulations to protect non-public information.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for the reporting of results.

  • Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to organize time and work independently.
  • Ability to work well as a member of the loan servicing team.
  • Ability to prepare management reports accurately and timely.
