Restaurant Manager - Wimbledon, Home of Tennis
The All-England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) is one of the world’s most iconic sporting locations serving as a private Members Club during 50 weeks of the year and then, for two weeks, hosting The Championships - the world’s premier grass court tennis tournament.
The dining offer includes a formal dining room open for lunch six days a week and dinner Monday to Friday evenings. The Club Room is a casual dining experience offering breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea served daily. The Landing Bar is open daily for drinks service.
Role Purpose
As the Maitre'd, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring that our members and their guests enjoy flawless dining experiences in the Members Restaurant and Clubhouse. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing restaurant operations, managing reservations, working closely with our culinary team, and leading our service team to deliver unparalleled hospitality to our members
Hours & Shift Expectations
Key Responsibilities:
Hospitality Excellence: Set the standard for exceptional hospitality, ensuring each member and guest receives personalized attention and impeccable service.Team Leadership: Lead by example, supporting our waiting team to provide guidance, training, and support which empowers the team to excel in their roles.Reservation Management: Efficiently manage reservations, orchestrating seating arrangements and accommodating member requests seamlessly using reservation management software.Guest Relations: Cultivate strong relationships with members, anticipating their needs and addressing any concerns or special requests with professionalism and efficiency.Floor Management: Oversee restaurant floor operations during service hours, ensuring smooth service flow, timely seating, and swift resolution of any issues that may arise.Menu Knowledge: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of our menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and wine selections. Assist guests with menu choices and dietary preferences.Quality Control: Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness, organization, and presentation throughout the restaurant, adhering to health and safety regulations rigorously.Collaboration with Kitchen Staff: Liaise with kitchen staff to facilitate the timely preparation and delivery of food orders, communicating guest preferences and any menu adjustments effectively.Administrative Duties: Handle administrative tasks efficiently, including staff scheduling, inventory management, and financial reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and compliance at all times.

- Lunch approximately 40 covers
- Dinner approximately 30 covers
- Expectation to work approximately 5 weekend days per month

- Proven experience in a similar role within a high-end restaurant or private members club.
- Exceptional leadership abilities with a talent for motivating and inspiring a team.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on building rapport with members and thier guests.
- Proficiency in reservation management software and basic computer literacy.
- Extensive knowledge of food and beverage, including expertise in wine pairing.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to delivering flawless service.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and remain composed under pressure.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
