Business Manager - Liquor Store Location: Thaba Nchu Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Business Manager to oversee the operations of our liquor store in Thaba Nchu. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing teams, strong labor relations expertise, and the ability to drive business growth while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Operational Management Ensure the store operates efficiently and meets sales and profit targets. Implement and monitor operational policies and procedures. Manage stock levels, ordering, and inventory control to minimize shrinkage. 2. People Management Lead, motivate, and develop a team of employees to deliver excellent customer service. Conduct regular performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and identifying training needs. Manage work schedules and allocate tasks effectively to ensure smooth operations. 3. Labor Relations Handle all labor-related issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances. Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies. Build a positive working relationship with staff and ensure a harmonious work environment. 4. Financial Management Prepare budgets and monitor financial performance. Analyze sales data and implement strategies to improve profitability. Ensure accurate cash handling and banking procedures. 5. Compliance and Risk Management Ensure adherence to all liquor licensing laws and health and safety regulations. Manage risk by maintaining a secure and compliant store environment. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company policies. 6. Customer Service Drive a customer-centric culture within the store. Address customer complaints promptly and professionally. Maintain high standards of store cleanliness and product presentation. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in retail management, preferably in the liquor or FMCG industry. Strong background in people management with a focus on labor relations and conflict resolution. Proven ability to manage operational and financial aspects of a business. Proficiency in stock management, budgeting, and reporting. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Management, HR, or related field will be an advantage. Key Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
