Job Description
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? Do you have the drive to support students in their learning, development, and personal growth? We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to work within one of our vibrant primary schools in Worthing, West Sussex, starting in January 2025. The position will be until July 2025.
About the Role:
As a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work from 8.30 AM to 3.30 PM, Monday to Friday. You will be supporting students with a range of additional needs, ensuring they have equal access to learning opportunities in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Your role will be vital in helping children feel confident, capable, and supported in all aspects of their school life.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
Assisting with the implementation of tailored learning plans and strategies.
Encouraging and promoting positive behavior and emotional well-being.
Helping students engage with their lessons and develop key skills, both academically and socially.
Working closely with teachers and other professionals to create a collaborative, supportive learning environment.
Observing and recording student progress to contribute to their ongoing development.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who is personable, empathetic, and highly motivated. You should be someone who thrives on seeing the progress and success of others, no matter how small. The ideal candidate will have:
A genuine passion for working with children and an understanding of their individual needs.
Excellent communication skills – the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents alike.
Patience and a calm, positive approach to challenges.
A strong desire to learn and grow in your role, with the flexibility to adapt to different situations and learning styles.
Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs is an advantage but not essential. A willingness to train and develop is key!
An ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
Creative thinking to find new ways to engage and support students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
