Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team in Godalming, United Kingdom. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating delicious and visually appealing sushi dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety.
  • Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, maki, and speciality rolls
  • Ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients, including raw fish and seafood
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely food preparation
  • Create visually stunning sushi presentations that delight our customers
  • Manage inventory and stock levels of sushi ingredients
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques
  • Develop new sushi recipes and contribute to menu planning
  • Provide excellent customer service, including addressing dietary requirements and preferences
  • Maintain knowledge of current food trends and incorporate them into sushi offerings


Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef in a restaurant or food service setting
  • In-depth knowledge of Japanese cuisine, ingredients, and sushi preparation techniques
  • Excellent knife skills and ability to create visually appealing sushi presentations
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings (from 6am)
  • Enthusiasm and passion for creating high-quality sushi dishes
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
  • Customer-focused attitude with a friendly and professional demeanour
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and recipes
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Reliable transportation for commuting to work
  • Food Safety certification (desirable)
  • Basic English language skills
