Position Summary
Why It's a Great Opportunity:
As a recent graduate with an emphasis entry level proficiency in GIS, you will support Long Range Planning and Development Services. With your current and relevant training in the latest GIS software you will assist with geospatial data maintenance and updates. These include wetland and other critical area data, development moratorium, land division applications, shoreline application tracking, and others.

Some of the work you may support includes:
- Cleaning up (match current parcel data) datasets such as Zoning, Land Use Designations, Community Plans, Potential Annexation Areas, Development Engineering, and Development Moratorium.
- Creation of dataset showing history of zoning changes. This will also help with automating the creation of future zoning atlas pages. The current process is manual and very labor intensive. This would greatly reduce the time of creating zoning atlas pages.
- Creation of dataset showing all zoning changes/amendments that have been applied for or suggested and if approved or not.
- Assist with regular data maintenance and help with the backlog of data edits. A number of the backlogs are over a year old.
- Assist with updating all digital GIS files from the old ArcMap to the current ArcGIS Pro software program.
- Assist with updating all the Online Maps and Apps from Web App Builder to Experience Builder to ensure that they continue to function as web browsers are updated.
- Assist with inventorying scanning historic hard copy maps. We currently have a large number of maps that need to be scanned.
- Assist with inventorying and scanning historic aerial photos and then geographically rectifying these images so that they can be used in GIS.

- Interpret local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines as they relate to assigned responsibilities and stay abreast of various legislative changes.
- Provide assistance and information to County departments, contractors and the general public regarding a wide range of planning functions, and other related areas.
- May assist in the review and monitoring of programs, projects and applications to ensure compliance with various codes, plans, contracts, agency policies and procedures, and rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in planning or related field OR any equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Positions in specific program areas may require program-related experience, education, and/or training.
- Additional education or experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may substitute on a year for year basis.
