Job Description

We are seeking an empathetic and motivated SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dedicated team and work with students who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The Role:
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with a variety of special educational needs, both within the classroom and on a one-to-one basis. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure students are fully included in lessons and are supported in their learning, helping them to build confidence, independence, and social skills.
Your role will include supporting students with a range of needs such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and physical disabilities, while also ensuring that they feel safe, respected, and valued in the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEND, both in the classroom and during other school activities.
Assist in the preparation and differentiation of learning materials to meet the needs of individual students.
Support students in developing social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
Help students with personal care tasks, as required.
Foster an inclusive learning environment by ensuring students are engaged, focused, and actively participating in lessons.
Monitor and track the progress of students, and work closely with the SENDCo and teaching staff to implement strategies and interventions.
Maintain clear communication with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
Assist with the preparation of SEND-related paperwork, reports, and assessments.
Contribute to the overall well-being of students by offering emotional support and encouragement.
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs (SEND), is highly desirable.
A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
A strong commitment to inclusion and promoting equal opportunities for all students.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
The ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) are advantageous, but not essential.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
