Job Description

We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team in Chippenham, United Kingdom. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating delicious and visually appealing sushi dishes whilst maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety.
  • Prepare fresh ingredients, including raw fish and other seafood, for sushi production
  • Create a variety of sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi with precision and creativity
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices are followed at all times
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely food preparation
  • Assist in menu development and suggest new sushi creations
  • Monitor and maintain adequate inventory levels of sushi ingredients and supplies
  • Provide excellent customer service, including answering queries about menu items and ingredients
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques
  • Adapt to changing customer demands and seasonal menu changes


Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi preparation techniques
  • Excellent knife skills and ability to create visually appealing food presentations
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings and weekends
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when required
  • Enthusiasm and passion for creating high-quality sushi dishes
  • Ability to multitask efficiently whilst maintaining a calm demeanour
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and menu items
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
  • Customer-focused attitude with a friendly and professional demeanour
  • Reliable transportation for commuting to work
  • Food hygiene certification (desirable)
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Japanese language is a plus
