Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Supported Learning Department as a SEND Support Practitioner on a permanent, full-time basis, based at our at our Harpurhey Campus (35 hours per week, term time only).
The college aims to provide quality innovative, holistic support for learners with a Special Educational Need and/or Disability (SEN/D) which promotes independence, achievement and progression.
Dependent on your specialism you will be required to work with High Needs learners, as directed by the ALS Manager or to work autonomously, to develop a caseload of individual learners requiring SpLD support.
Ensuring that they receive high quality, efficient support and positive learning experiences, the role of the Support Practitioner is to progress learning and the holistic wellbeing of individual or small groups of learners via in-class and out of class support as appropriate, ensuring they receive high quality, efficient support and positive learning experiences. Carry out support interviews, formulating personal learning plans and assessing progress against learning and support targets to ensure learners are achieving in line with their peers. Support Practitioners will actively contribute to learner reviews on the effectiveness of support in the learning environment. Support could be provided for all of the College's divisions including 16-19, Adults, H.E. and Apprentices.
The Manchester College is based at many sites across the city, each with its own specialist cutting edge facilities within a friendly and supportive environment. We are the largest FE College in the UK providing education and training to a wide range of learners.
In order to do this, you will need:
Minimum Level 2 Learning Support qualification, or willingness to achieve within an agreed periodor
Minimum of a Level 2 Specialist support qualification. (or willingness to achieve within an agreed period)
Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
Willingness to work towards a secondary specialist support area at minimum Level 2
Communication Support Practitioners require a minimum level 3 British Sign Language qualification
Dyslexia Support Practitioners require a minimum level 3 supporting Learners with Dyslexia qualificationIn return you will benefit from an excellent package including:
