Job Description
Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Wolverhampton, Walsall and Dudley
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time options available
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TA) to join our dedicated team to work within a trust with schools located across the Black Country. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about supporting children with additional needs and creating a nurturing environment where all students can achieve their potential. As an SEN TA, you will work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to provide tailored support for children with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum effectively.
Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to meet each student’s unique learning needs.
Support students with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and other learning and emotional difficulties.
Work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENCO to create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
Use a variety of strategies and resources to support students’ learning and encourage positive behavior.
Monitor and document students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and supporting assessments.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally within a school setting.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
Strong communication skills to build effective relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Ability to use positive behavior management techniques to support students in a compassionate way.
A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children.
Desirable Skills:
Relevant SEN qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or SEN-specific training).
Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication tools beneficial for students with SEN.
Experience with assistive technology and other resources to support SEN students’ learning.
Understanding of a range of SEN needs, including autism spectrum conditions, speech and language difficulties, and sensory needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
