About the Role:
Long Term Futures is working with a forward-thinking secondary school in Newham to recruit a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to join their pastoral team. You'll work closely with the Head of Year and other team members to provide tailored support to students with SEMH and behavioural challenges, ensuring they feel valued, supported, and motivated to succeed. This role is perfect for someone passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Head of Year and pastoral team to implement behaviour and well-being strategies
Provide 1:1 and group mentoring to students facing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges
Build positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted mentor and role model
Assist with behaviour management, supporting teachers in maintaining a positive learning environment
Monitor attendance and punctuality, implementing interventions where needed
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive student support
Promote a positive school ethos and contribute to student well-being initiativesAbout the School:

Previous experience working with students with SEMH or behavioural challenges in a school or similar setting
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
A proactive, compassionate approach to mentoring and supporting young people
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and safeguarding practicesAdditional Details:
Full-time role, Monday to Friday
Paid £110 - £125 per day, term time only
Based in Newham, London - excellent public transport connections
