SALARY $76,586 - $85,176New hires may earn a salary ranging from the minimum to the midpoint of the pay scale, with education and experience taken into consideration.LOCATIONSeattle (Belltown), WA (Hybrid)FIND OUT ABOUT THIS ROLE AND OUR MISSION TO CREATE POSITIVE CHANGEOur Finance Department tracks the accounting for apartment building operations, commercial tenants, construction or renovation of buildings, social service grants, fundraising and the overall Plymouth organization. The Staff Payroll Accountant position assists with payroll system maintenance, payroll calculation, posting payroll related accounting entries, works with AP to handle payroll related invoices in a timely manner, payroll related general ledger maintenance, financial reporting to funders and cash management. This position may also be responsible for other accounting duties, as assigned, such as financial statement preparation, government grant accounting and donation processing.Plymouth Housing is a nonprofit organization that develops and operates permanent supportive housing for single adults who have experienced chronic homelessness. With apartment buildings throughout King County, Plymouth is helping the most vulnerable members of our community leave homelessness behind forever. As part of our strategic vision, we are building internal behavioral health services and transforming our systems to address rapid growth and the changing needs of residents.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO BE DOING IN THIS ROLE AT PLYMOUTH HOUSINGCalculates payroll in ADP environment.Prepares and maintains accurate records of payroll transactions. Maintains payroll distributions with assistance of senior accountant(s) responsible for grant billings and grant administrators.Sets up new employees with correct mix of cost numbers for filling out their timesheets in ADP.Assists managers with timesheet and leave request issues.Provides answers to employees regarding their pay with a high level of customer service.Updates and maintains leave balances; resolves disputes with employees regarding their leave balances.Works with employees to resolve timesheet and paycheck issues.Identifies and recommends updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures.Ensures that financial records are maintained accurately and are consistent with accounting standards for nonprofit agencies. Monitors state and federal reporting requirements. Ensures that the required reports, registrations, and licenses are prepared accurately and filed in a timely manner. Is comfortable working in a multi-state payroll environment.Prepares reports for third party funders, as needed.Maintains confidentiality and integrity of electronic and paper documents and financial information.Performs other work-related tasks as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 1 - 3 years of experience in accounting, payroll calculation and financial analysis.Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles. Exhibit good judgment in making accounting choices, while seeking guidance from the Controller, the Accounting Manager or Chief Financial Officer as appropriate.Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage deadlines; manage competing priorities; and maintain high standards for accuracy and productivity. Ability to quickly perform routine tasks with consistent accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to identify and solve problems; ability to recommend proposals for increased efficiency of operations. Commitment to ensuring the financial integrity of the accounting information, and ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion.Ability to work well with diverse populations. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to coordinate the flow of information to and from staff and management, working with colleagues who possess varying degrees of financial expertise.Desire to work in an environment requiring teamwork, effective conflict resolution and respect for others. Proficient and experienced with accounting software systems, and Microsoft Office applications; particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint. Must be able to work efficiently and effectively with customized databases and technology, and conduct Internet research, as needed.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with public funding and nonprofit accounting. Experience with ADP.Experience with Abila MIP Fund Accounting software. Experience with Bostonpost software.Knowledge of low-income housing development and operations.
