Overview

Aether is on a mission to develop a comprehensive AI-driven platform for the energy industry. Our founders have strong technical academic background from UC Berkeley, complemented by extensive technical experience gained at some of the most influential companies in the energy sector.

Aether is in search of a Senior Software Engineer, specializing in the development of real-time CAD-related tools for the energy industry utilizing Three.js and WebGL and helping build other frontend applications as needed.

Ideal candidates should possess backgrounds in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science, paired with a strong foundation in Computer Science.

You will be responsible for building and shepherding new product features from conceptualization to launch.

We're not building another app for marketing conversions. We're building complex physical models for the global energy landscape. Your contributions will directly contribute to our mission to combat the world's climate crisis.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

Gets things done. This is an emerging Y Combinator seed company, and we require you to make an impact from day one.

Consequently, this position requires a high degree of adaptability and self-motivation. You will be expected to take the lead in developing many of our core long-term products, a strong appetite for research is necessary.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED
• 3+ years of experience in software/game development (with rare exceptions for exceptionally skilled developers).
• A deep understanding of Three.js, ES5, and ES6 concepts.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, 3D graphics, and infographics.
• Hands-on experience with SVG, WebGL, and Canvas/CSS animation.
• Knowledge of rendering 3D objects using WebGL and the JavaScript API.
• Experience with front-end or API layer frameworks (such as React and GraphQL).
• A solid mathematical background is expected, as it's integral to this role.
• Knowledge of best practices in collaborative coding with tools like Git and CI/CD.
• You must be Fluent in English.
• Preferred - We know you won’t know everything but having a good general breadth of the requirements below will set you apart.
• The ability to program and architect various core engine systems.
• Experience in working with physical systems simulation.
• Familiarity with APIs and databases.
• Understanding of energy related data: battery data, solar data, etc.

Compensation/Time Commitment/Location:

• This is a remote role with requirement to visit Paris office once every month. We support US customers and as such you will be asked at times to slightly align with eastern US hours (we start work late). Ideal candidate is based in the EU (France, Spain, Germany, etc)
