Join our team at VJH, where your expertise in managing complex patient cases is highly valued. You’ll interact with a diverse array of departments—from Anesthesia to Oncology—enhancing your skills and directly influencing health outcomes. Your role is critical in coordinating referrals to tertiary care in Kelowna, backed by a dedicated network of healthcare professionals who create a nurturing environment.

The heart of your work involves caring for patients and their families during critical times, demanding exceptional clinical acumen and communication prowess. You’ll collaborate with healthcare specialists to ensure seamless patient transitions and optimal care strategies, supported by sophisticated electronic documentation systems.

Our hospitalist program is enriched by academic connections with UBC-Okanagan’s medical programs, providing unique opportunities for clinical education and mentorship. Your involvement in Physician Quality Improvement projects will be key to fostering an innovative and progressive workplace. Please note that the role focuses on adult general medicine and does not include responsibilities for Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, or ICU/code blue situations.

Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is a 196-bed facility and a beacon of healthcare excellence in Vernon, British Columbia. Serving as the primary hospital in the North Okanagan region, VJH provides comprehensive acute care along with advanced medical services and technology.

The unveiling of the Polson Tower marked a significant expansion, boosting outpatient services and introducing specialized units for maternity, pediatrics, intensive and coronary care. The hospital’s future looks even brighter with the planned construction of a 44 single-occupancy room psychiatric unit by 2029.

Nearly 1,800 dedicated personnel cater to approximately 93,720 individuals, including those from First Nations and Métis communities. VJH’s wide-ranging services, from emergency to surgery to rehabilitation, highlight a deep commitment to innovation, excellence, and compassionate care.

Compensation

Compensation Type: Alternative Payment Arrangement
Estimated Remuneration: As a full-time hospitalist, earn a guaranteed income of $336,168 under the APP clinical service contract, in addition to MOCAP level 2 for overnight call (from home) and premiums for evening and weekend shifts.

Benefits and Incentives

Vacation Leave: With flexible scheduling, you'll have ample time to recharge and unwind.
Relocation Funding Available: $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 within Canada, and $15,000 from outside Canada, as maximum relocation assistance amounts. Other Benefits/Incentives: It's important to note that incentives are subject to change, and the specific rates will be confirmed at the time of the offer.
