This opportunity to source and procure a range of merchandise for all types of special occasions / events, in line with company strategy is within a retail environment. The role is specifically suited to a candidate who has a relevant tertiary qualification and has been independently sourcing/buying internationally (gifts / homeware /variety of merchanise for all types of special occasions & events. Must be a strong negotiator, communicator with a creative flair and a keen eye for detail. COMPETENCIES - Source, select, display and promote new products Proven ability to spot and interpret new trends Keep abreast of the latest trends through industry and trade shows Negotiate with suppliers to attain favourable terms and prices Develop good relationships with suppliers and other stakeholders Strong analytical skills with an ability to assess product performance Strong numerical skills must have an ability to do calculations, reconciliations and costings Good working knowledge of computer software packages MS Office and Inventory management software Generating reports and forecasts Excellent written and oral communication skills Assist the team with merchandising and displaying products Available to travel internationally approximately once a year, if required Mainly international procurement (China) with some local.
