Job Description

Who You Are As a candidate, you are professionally qualified with credentials such as a Diploma in Pest Control through BPCA or an RSPH Level 2 Certificate in Pest Management, or an equivalent qualification. You possess a thorough understanding of pest control methods applicable in urban settings, with a solid grasp of health and safety legislation and safeguarding protocols. Your professional development in pest management and associated areas is proven. You have experience in providing pest control guidance and executing services utilizing baits, traps, and poisons. You demonstrate strong customer service skills, both independently and collaboratively. You are technologically savvy, capable of utilizing IT tools for planning and reporting. You can accurately prepare site visit reports, handle poisons safely, sensitively respond to customer needs, and mentor new team members. A valid driving license is essential, as is your ability to work in confined spaces and at heights. What the Job Involves The role involves delivering pest control services to the residents and clients of Southwark Council, inspecting, investigating, and treating a variety of infestations. You will handle diverse pests, including rodents, cockroaches, and bed bugs, conduct property surveys to identify infestations, and recommend structural repairs to prevent recurrence. The tasks include organizing stray dog collection and implementing pigeon proofing when needed. You will manage pesticide use following COSHH regulations while keeping precise records of all site visits, adhering to relevant codes of practice. The role requires responsible vehicle operation, collecting payments, and ensuring accurate client charges working with the Scheduling Team. You will provide expert pest control advice and serve as an expert witness when required. Mentoring apprentices and staying updated with ongoing professional development is expected. The role includes participating in standby rotations, flexibility to work beyond standard hours, contributing to projects, ensuring value for money by upholding service agreements, and encouraging clients to adopt behaviour changes to effectively manage and prevent infestations.
