Our newest brand – Grasshopper Adventures – has specialised in cycling and multi-active tours across Asia for the past 20 years and we are now launching a brand new product range for GHA in Europe, starting with destinations in Portugal (Douro Valley), Spain (Costa Brava), Italy (Sicily), and Croatia (the Dalmatian Coast). The role of a Grasshopper Adventures Tour Leader Our Tour Leaders are responsible for the day-to-day running of the tours on the roads, paths, and trails of our wonderful destinations. This involves: Leading a cycling group on pre-defined routes in a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable manner. Directing the activities of tour drivers, bike mechanics, and/or assistant tour leaders. Providing in-depth commentary relevant to the destination, the route, the experiences, and local life. Managing all tour-related paperwork and expenditure and completing relevant accounting and administrative paperwork. Leading all group activities and socialising with the group. Interacting with various suppliers and accommodation providers daily. Ensuring the group's safety and enjoyment and being the first point of contact in case of incidents or crises. Addressing on-route bicycle mechanical issues to keep guests riding where possible. Continuously managing 'risk' during the day's activities and adapting to conditions detrimental to group safety and enjoyment. It is a big responsibility as you are directly responsible for the successful operation of the tour. Our Tour Leaders are at the heart of our product and personify what we want to achieve as a business. Our Tour Leaders: Have in-depth local knowledge of the place where you would lead tours and a genuine interest and passion for our destinations. Make safety a priority daily. Are highly organised with the ability to plan ahead. Possess developed problem-solving skills. Demonstrate a professional attitude and behaviour at all times. Possess a high level of customer service and great people skills. The Season: We will be operating in the cooler, quieter months of the year that should offer better riding conditions. Tour Leaders will need to be available for some or all of the dates detailed below. SICILY Apr 20, 2025, May 11, 2025, Jun 15, 2025, Sep 14, 2025, Oct 19, 2025, Nov 2, 2025 Please indicate in your application which destination and dates you would be available for a six-day tour. Interviews will be held in our London offices in early December 2024, and candidates will be asked to join in person. Successful candidates will all need to attend a training tour in early February, likely in Spain. Finally, prospective candidates for other destinations (i.e., not Spain) will need to undertake recce tours scheduled across late February to late March. Contracted tour leaders must be able to undertake these commitments. The deadline for application submission is 22nd November 2024.
