Job Title: Technician Job Specialty: Ophthalmic Job Duration: Temporary to Hire Shift: Day 8 M-F 8 AM-5 PM Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 Experience: One year of relevant experience required. License: Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Assistant Certifications: Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Assistant Must-Have: Outpatient care, Medical assistant experience, Eye tracking skills Job Description: - Performs sub-specialty testing including Humphrey Visual Field, Optical Coherence Tomography, and Fundus photography. - Conducts comprehensive ophthalmic history and examinations, including visual acuity, color plate assessment, ptosis measurements, motility assessments, confrontation visual fields, cross cover alignment testing, pupillary function (size, shape, and afferent pupillary defects), eye pressure measurements, and dilation. - Executes other ophthalmic testing as needed, such as lensometry, refractometry, tonometry (by applanation and/or tonopen), retinoscopy, keratometry, and/or topography. Other imaging might include IOL Master, Pentacam, Lipiview, and A and B scans. - Completes documentation, patient education, clinic flow, and additional tasks like checking blood pressure and vital signs as delegated by the provider, and communicates the results of ophthalmic tests, history, and examination to the physician. - Prepares patients for further neuro-ophthalmic examination by the attending physician. - Maintains equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, and promptly reporting equipment issues. - Promotes organizational mission, vision, and values, and adheres to service behavior standards. - Performs other duties as assigned. - May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business needs. - May be required to be on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
