Job Introduction Care Companion Pay rate: £14.50 per hour. Shift Pattern: Monday to Sunday Day Shifts We have a rewarding opportunity for the right person to work with an individual living in their own apartment in Southampton. This person has an acquired brain injury and requires a strong, caring and person focused individual to support them in their day to day needs. They have a great relationship with their family and love to spend their time watching TV, going shopping and visiting their local garden centres. We need people who are local to Southampton and know the area well, and has access to their own car with a full UK Driving License. Being a strong companion with be an important factor in this role, bringing a resilient and empathetic approach to really make a difference for this person. You will also need to bring experience with you in the following: Brain Injury Behaviours that can be perceived as challenging Learning Disabilities What will your shift involve? In this role, you will be providing a strong companionship to a gentleman on a 2:1 basis, ensuring that the person you are supporting receives compassionate care which is tailored towards their needs. Your responsibilities will include engaging with them in all of their day to day tasks, taking them out into the community to promote social interaction and managing behaviours which could be perceived as being challenging which would include giving gentle prompts. Additionally, you will support with basic household tasks to maintain a clean and organized living environment. Clear communication will be essential to build a strong relationship.
