Job summary Working at Ecclesfield Group Practice An opportunity has risen to join our friendly team at Ecclesfield Group Practice to cover a part time Maternity post for a Medical receptionist. We are a SystmOne practice with an excellent use of IT software such as AccuRx, MS Teams, Video consultations, CtheSigns, Ardens and the use of our clinical software workflow management system. We are a two-site practice based in Ecclesfield (branch site Margetson Surgery) covering a practice population of approximately 8,600 patients. We hold regular social events. Private onsite staff parking available. 5 minutes from M1 Junction 35 Main duties of the job MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST Job Summary Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing theappropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient andeffective way. Provide general assistance to the Practice team and projecta positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in personor via the telephone. To provide efficient, helpful, informative and supportivereception and administration services to patients and members of the primaryhealth care team. Job description Job responsibilities JOB DESCRIPTION Job Responsibilities: Reception duties Ensure an effective andefficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors tothe Practice Deal with all generalenquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments. Using your own judgmentand communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but whoneed urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner. Explain Practicearrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seekingtemporary cover and ensure procedures are completed. Receive and maketelephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracyof detail and prompt appropriate delivery. Enter requests for homevisits into the clinical system, ensuring careful recording of all relevantdetails and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor. Action repeatprescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by thepatient within 48 hours, in line with Practice protocol. Take action onclinicians requests for further information / patient contact information etc.(includes computerised practice notes), ensuring completion of all associatedpaperwork. Advise patients ofrelevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, acceptpayment and issue receipts for same. Enter patient informationon to the computer as required. Prepare clinical roomsfor surgeries, supply prescription forms and record numbers in use and ensureadequate supplies of consumables Premises: Open up premises at the start of theday when first to arrive, de-activate alarm and make all necessary preparationsto receive patients. When last to leave at the end of theday, ensure that the building is totally secured, internal lights are off andthe alarm activated. Ensure that all newpatients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately Covering colleaguesholiday and sick cover as required. Ensure the kitchen andwaiting room are kept tidy. Undertake any otheradditional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the SeniorReceptionist, Practice Manager or the Partners Administration duties Process incoming and outgoing mail accordingto practice protocols. Record actions taken in patient record whereappropriate or in accordance with practice protocols. Complete other Daily/ Weekly and Monthly coretasks to support to smooth running of the reception area. Confidentiality: In the course of seeking treatment, patientsentrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation totheir health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right toexpect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately In the performance of the duties outlined inthis Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidentialinformation relating to patients and their carers and other healthcare workers.They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a businessorganisation.
