Engineering Manager - Backend Technologies

We are looking for an Engineering Manager with E-commerce Domain Background. About the Role : We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Engineering Manager with strong expertise in Java Backend, Spring Boot, AWS, and Kafka. This role combines two-thirds Senior Software Engineer (SDE-3) responsibilities with one-third leadership responsibilities as an Engineering Manager . The position offers an opportunity to work closely with the Head of Engineering and the technology leadership team to shape technical strategies, deliver impactful outcomes, and build a high-performing team in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Key Responsibilities : Technology Strategy & Design : - Stay informed on business processes, customer value propositions, and technology enablement within relevant domains. - Develop and execute technology strategies, architecture paradigms, and engineering best practices. - Ensure the adoption of robust engineering practices and oversee system designs for seamless functionality. Technology Delivery : - Own delivery of functionality, system integration, usability, and non-functional requirements (NFR). - Ensure high-quality design, code, modularity, and rules-driven behavior. - Manage deployment, production support, stabilization, and rollout of technical solutions. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical delivery with business goals. Technology Team Building : - Train, mentor, and retain top talent while fostering team growth and performance. - Hire and onboard skilled engineers to strengthen the team. - Contribute to building a dynamic and innovative team culture. Strategic Contributions : - Shape the technical vision and manage OKRs to align with business objectives. - Facilitate stakeholder communication and align roadmaps with organizational goals. - Promote a culture of agility, innovation, and excellence in engineering practices. Qualifications & Skills : Technical Expertise : - 8 years of hands-on software engineering experience in business applications. - Strong technical expertise in Java Backend, Spring Boot, AWS, and Kafka. - Deep understanding of engineering principles, system design, and development workflows. - Proven ability to guide and evaluate technical decisions with clarity and detail orientation. - Proficient in building flexible, modular systems with safe deployment practices. - Experience in digital commerce and retail is a plus. - Exposure to working in a tech start-up environment is preferred. Leadership & People Management : - Experience in leading engineering teams and initiatives. - Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and motivational skills. - Strong ability to build trust, nurture talent, and foster a high-performing team culture. - Experience in hiring and developing engineering talent. Project Management : - Skilled in managing timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations. - Comfortable pivoting between technical and non-technical responsibilities.
