Senior Data Engineer

Responsibilities and Tasks: Develop and enhance scalable ETL pipelines in the cloud Load, process, normalise, and provide various data types, from point data (e.g., sensor measurements) to raster data (e.g., satellite or radar imagery) Develop and improve an extensible data warehouse that serves as the foundation for weather modelling Ensure performance, robustness, and high availability of data systems Develop interfaces for data exchange across a variety of applications Test, validate, visualise, and document new approaches and their performance Required Qualifications: Senior-level experience at a reputable company, or at least 5 years of professional experience in data engineering Proven experience in data-heavy environments Expertise in handling large datasets (>1TB) Previous experience setting up scalable ETL pipelines, familiarity with common database systems, and proficiency with ETL libraries Knowledge of distributed systems and experience with multiple cloud platforms Proficiency in Python, and at least one additional modern programming language (C/C++, Java, Julia, Go, etc.) Ability to develop solutions independently based on project goals, with experience in agile work methodologies Interest and experience in taking ideas from prototype to final product development Business fluent in English and French
