Job Description

Our client is looking for a Raw Material Planner to join their team in Ottery, Cape Town. The Raw Material Planner will ensure the timely availability of materials required for production while minimizing shortages and optimizing inventory levels. This role focuses on raw material demand planning, aligning procurement with production schedules, and inventory management to maintain operational efficiency. The Raw Material Planner will report to the Supply Chain Manager. Responsibilities: Analyze production schedules to forecast raw material needs. Develop material requirement plans (MRPs) based on forecasts and sales data. Work closely with the procurement manager and production planner to ensure timely ordering and delivery of raw materials. Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain optimal stock, determine appropriate safety stock levels, and prevent overstocking or shortages. Monitor and analyze SLOB stock to develop strategies for reduction and elimination. Track material usage trends to provide insights for SKU consolidation opportunities and process improvements. Liaise with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless material flow. Address material-related issues and manage any resulting deviations effectively. Ensure alignment between procurement and production timelines through effective communication and risk identification. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A diploma in a relevant field may be considered if the candidate has extensive experience. 25 years of experience in materials planning, supply chain management, procurement, or inventory management. Experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, or production environment is preferred. Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (such as SAP, SYSPRO, etc.) is essential. Strong understanding of supply chain processes and inventory control principles. Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools. Knowledge of forecasting and demand planning techniques. Excellent analytical, administrative, and organizational skills. Strong communication skills for interacting with internal stakeholders. Excellent problem-solving skills to manage raw material challenges and prevent production disruptions. Attention to detail to identify raw material data inaccuracies.
