Director of Engineering

We are urgently seeking applications for Director of Engineering position for our client, a leading financial institution of India. A dynamic leadership opportunity for a seasoned technology executive with 22 years of experience. This role is ideal for a professional with at least 5 years in enterprise application development leadership, expert in Java technologies, microservices, and modern engineering practices. Key Responsibilities. Strategic Leadership : - Drive product design, development, and delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable enterprise applications. - Make technology decisions and control overall product quality. Process & Innovation : - Champion and enhance Software Engineering processes and best practices. - Promote innovation through Centres of Excellence and rigorous project governance. Project & Team Management : - Oversee project planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication. - Provide timely performance feedback and mentor direct reports to maximize their potential. - Produce periodic and ad-hoc reports for senior leadership. Governance & Compliance : - Ensure adherence to SDLC methodologies (Waterfall/Agile), secure software development practices, and relevant frameworks (CMMi, ITIL). Required Experience & Skills. Technical Expertise : - Proven experience in developing and implementing enterprise-class applications. - Deep knowledge of the Java technology stack, microservices, RESTful services, CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud architectures. - Familiarity with secure software development lifecycle and security best practices. Process & Management : - Expertise in project estimation, planning (using tools like Microsoft Project), risk management, and quantitative project management. - Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Preferred Background : - Experience in the banking domain or with IT captives of MNC Banks/IT product companies is an advantage. Certifications : - PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent is required. - Additional technology-specific and Agile certifications are preferred. (ref:hirist.tech)
