Head of API Engineering

Job title : Head of API Engineering Grade Band : VP and above Location : Andheri/Lower Parel/Mumbai/Navi Mumbai BU/Function : Information Technology Reports to : Chief Technology Officer - Application - may change at the time of joining, hence do not commit at the time of first call. Role Details : This role requires a strong combination of strategic thinking and change management expertise. Hands-on Engineering : - Engineering experience across the API/ Microservices, Cloud/ Native Platform, Containerization, and Cloud Operations - Strong expertise on one of the integration technologies IBM DataPower, Tibco, Mulesoft, etc. delivering highly scalable, secured, resilient and reliable services while ensuring cost optimization - Strong expertise on DevSecOps - Strong knowledge of SDLC Processes - Experience in a Bank is good to have along with exposure to handling regulators - Adopting best security and SDLC practices - Implementation of Modern Monitoring/ Observability stack for effective IT Production Operations. - Interactions with business leaders/stakeholders, Vendors, and internal teams for effective delivery - Strong knowledge of IT Security processes and frameworks for Production Environment Management - Strong knowledge of Regulatory compliances needs/circulars and Internal Audit Processes No. of employees handled - 20 Overall Job Description : - Delivers robust, highly scalable cloud native API platform - Manages the demand from various stakeholders across the bank and plan to ensure delivery on time and within budget. - Maintains documentation of systems, maps and architectural diagrams, procedures, end user documentation and technical information. - Delivers on cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). - Delivers pipelines with DevSecOps & SRE practices, to multiple environments. - Delivers automation of DR. - Improve technology platforms stability, performance, scalability, and fault tolerance across all IT systems. Troubleshoot recurring issues and running the triage for problem solving/RCA. Essential Skills : - 10 years in leadership roles, with a proven track record of leading modern API engineering, modernization of API platform in cost effective manner. - Strong implementation experience of Modern Observability Stack, High Availability, Resiliency and Self-Healing of APIs - Implementation of automated maintenance and switchover across multiple data centers on premise and cloud - API Inventory Management using modern toolsets - Strong understanding of change management principles, methodologies, and best practices. - Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a track record of making sound decisions in complex and ambiguous situations. - Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver results within specified timelines and budgets. - Knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices - Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and leading change in a rapidly evolving business landscape. - Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
