Your team : The Player Engineering domain is one of the most crucial parts of the DAZN stack. We build, own, and support the frontend playback experience across customers' devices at DAZN. We strive to deliver the best possible video experience across all devices (web, set-top boxes, TVs, games consoles, mobiles) regardless of network conditions. To do this we build everything from our own tooling and automation applications to test and evaluate devices to our own complex heuristics to ensure that we deliver the highest quality video streams to customers as often as possible based on their network conditions. The way we work : We obsess over data and use it to measure how we are performing against our customers' and the business' expectations, as well as using it to build our backlog and to inform where we should focus our development e- orts. - We value agile delivery practices and are continually evolving and reviewing our processes. - Delivery teams are typically made up of around 5-8 Engineers, a Team Lead, and a Product Manager. - Our teams are from various and diverse backgrounds, and we welcome and encourage new perspectives and opinions openly. - Whilst we welcome anyone with experience in the streaming or OTT industry, it is by no means a prerequisite to work on this team. - Successful engineers are people who love to solve challenging problems and enjoy the opportunity to work on a variety of features and devices. Lead / Sr. Architect : Must have Retail Device & HTML5 Video Player Expertise Experience Level : 10 years. Requirements : - Extensive experience with Set-Top Box (STB), TV, Gaming Console devices. - Proficiency in developing and optimizing HTML5 video players. - Strong understanding of video streaming protocols and DRM technologies. - Ability to troubleshoot and resolve playback issues on various devices. Responsibilities : - Ensure seamless video playback across all supported devices (STBs, TVs, gaming consoles, mobile, and web). - Optimize and enhance the performance of HTML5 video players for better speed, quality, and stability. - Improve startup time, latency, buffering, and adaptive bitrate (ABR) algorithms for superior user experience. - Implement robust playback monitoring and issue resolution mechanisms to minimize disruptions. - Lead the development and testing of video playback across diverse retail devices. - Identify and resolve device-specific playback challenges to ensure compatibility and performance. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies in Set-Top Boxes, TVs, and gaming consoles. - Implement and optimize streaming technologies (HLS, DASH) to enhance video delivery. - Ensure DRM (Digital Rights Management) compliance and security across all playback platforms. - Troubleshoot playback issues related to network conditions, encryption, and protocol handling. - Provide technical direction for video playback engineering strategies and long-term architecture. - Identify areas for innovation, including AI/ML-based enhancements in video quality optimization. - Drive architectural improvements for scalability, reliability, and maintainability. - Contribute to DAZNs engineering best practices, coding standards, and performance optimization. - Utilize playback performance data and analytics to drive technical and product improvements. - Measure KPIs such as rebuffering rate, playback failures, and startup time to enhance user experience. - Work closely with product managers, QA teams, and developers to ensure smooth feature rollouts. - Contribute to agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and backlog prioritization for efficient execution. - Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the team. - Ensure video solutions adhere to security, privacy, and compliance regulations. - Build scalable playback solutions that support global content distribution and high concurrency. - Stay updated with industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in the streaming domain.
