As a GCP Consultant at Cortex, you will leverage your deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform's Dataflow service and/or Teradata to build scalable and efficient data pipelines. Role Description : This is an on-site, full-time role based in Chennai, requiring a strong focus on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines using Google Cloud Platform's Dataflow service. You will also be responsible for leveraging your expertise in data warehousing principles and technologies, particularly Teradata, to build and optimize data storage solutions. Key Responsibilities : - Solution Design & Architecture : Design and architect scalable and efficient data pipelines and ETL processes using GCP Dataflow and related GCP services. - Development & Implementation : Develop, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large datasets. - Data Warehousing : Design and implement data warehousing solutions using Teradata, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and data integrity. - Client Collaboration : Work closely with clients to understand their data processing requirements, business objectives, and translate them into technical specifications. - Performance Optimization : Identify and implement strategies to optimize the performance of data pipelines and data warehouse environments. - Troubleshooting & Support : Diagnose and resolve complex data-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. - Data Quality & Governance : Implement and enforce data quality standards, data governance policies, and best practices. - Security & Compliance : Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. - Collaboration : Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and other engineers. - Documentation : Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, data models, and ETL processes. - Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in GCP Dataflow, Teradata, and related data technologies, and recommend innovative solutions. - Mentorship (Potentially) : Mentor and guide junior team members, sharing your expertise and best practices. - Contribution to VDC : Contribute to the development and enhancement of Cortex's "Virtual Development Center" (VDC) offering. Qualifications : Essential Qualifications : - Expertise in GCP Dataflow: Deep understanding and hands-on experience in designing, developing, and deploying data pipelines using GCP Dataflow (including concepts like PCollections, Transforms, Pipelines, Runners). - Strong Experience in Teradata : Proven experience in designing, developing, and managing data warehouses using Teradata (including knowledge of Teradata SQL, BTEQ, FastLoad/MultiLoad, performance tuning). - Proficient in Data Warehousing Concepts : Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, dimensional modeling (star schema, snowflake schema), ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling techniques. - Experience with ETL/ELT Tools & Frameworks : Familiarity with other ETL/ELT tools and frameworks beyond Dataflow and Teradata. - Strong SQL Skills : Excellent SQL skills for querying, manipulating, and analyzing data in both GCP environments and Teradata. - Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data-related issues effectively. - Communication & Collaboration : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. - Bachelor's Degree : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Industry Experience : Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience working with data pipelines, data warehousing, and related technologies. Desirable Qualifications : - Experience with other GCP services relevant to data processing and warehousing (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Data Catalog). - Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Scala for data processing and automation. - Knowledge of data governance frameworks and tools. - Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker). - Understanding of data security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). - Relevant GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Data Engineer). - Experience working in an Agile development environment (ref:hirist.tech)
