To get there, we need a strong data foundation—one that enables real-time product valuation, risk assessment, and dynamic pricing models. That’s where you come in. What is the job about? As our Founding Data Engineer (the 6th member of our team), you will own the development of our data infrastructure from the ground up. Your work will be at the heart of Wavo’s decision-making process, enabling smarter financing decisions, risk management, and pricing strategies. Your key responsibilities: Develop large-scale web scraping systems to collect market data from multiple sources (marketplaces, e-commerce platforms, industry sites). Build scalable data pipelines to structure, clean, and enrich the data in real-time. Design and maintain a product valuation engine, continuously updating pricing benchmarks. Implement risk-scoring models, leveraging data insights to optimize financing decisions. Collaborate with the founding engineering team and support them on broader technical challenges. Ensure data reliability, accuracy, and performance at scale. This is a founding role. You won’t just write code—you will define the architecture, shape the data strategy, and set the foundations for future growth. Who we are looking for We are looking for a strong data engineer who thrives on autonomy. You have built and maintained complex data architectures, and you are used to taking full ownership of your work—from defining technical solutions to deploying them in production. There will be no predefined roadmap or product manager guiding your steps: you will be responsible for identifying the right data to collect, designing efficient pipelines, and making it all run at scale. What we’re looking for: 3 years of experience in data engineering, large-scale data processing, or web scraping at scale. Proven ability to design and implement data pipelines from scratch. You will build the entire data stack—choosing the right tools and architecture for scalability and efficiency. Strong programming skills in data engineering. You should be comfortable working with structured and unstructured data, designing ETL/ELT processes, and ensuring data quality. Deep understanding of web scraping and data extraction. You know how to handle anti-bot mechanisms, proxies, and captchas to collect reliable data at scale. Experience working in production. You have built and maintained robust, scalable systems that process large volumes of data. Ability to collaborate with other engineers. While you will own the data infrastructure, you’ll also work closely with backend and product engineers to integrate insights into Wavo’s financing models. Bonus points for: Experience in pricing analytics, financial modeling, or marketplace data. Interest in finance and financial systems. Previous experience in an early-stage startup. Why Join Us?
