Job Purposes: To patrol the Highway in order to monitor and remove damage and obstacles, assist and respond to incidents, accidents, and the recording of such in terms of Company procedures. To report on any damaged or missing road furniture, fencing, damaged pavements or anything else, which may endanger the road user. Minimum requirements: Grade 12 Any Technical Qualification will be advantageous Job Related : Road Maintenance Valid, unendorsed Code 10 Drivers License Professional Driving Permit (PRDP) At least 2 years related experience Required Competencies to meet the Job Outcomes: Satisfactory oral and written communication skills in English Knowledge of road maintenance Interpersonal relationship skills Physically fit to move heavy objects Physical Demands & Work Environment: The daily physical demands are those required to work on the roads. If possible and allowed, it may be required of the person to drive a vehicle. Provide support on incidents/accidents on the route. The candidate will be required to work in all-weather conditions. Overtime duties might be required from time-to-time. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: All duties take place in accordance with the PT Operational Services Contract and all its annexures, legal requirements, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation and company policies and procedures: Patrol roads and respond to incidents and accidents on the Highway. Cleaning of accident debris and taking to dumping. Cleaning of small oil/diesel spillages. Booking of vehicle scheduled maintenance/service. Communicate with other role players and provide feedback. Schedule vehicle maintenance and ensure that the vehicle is clean and neat. Maintain a safe and professional working record. Complete any required paperwork and reports. Park the vehicle safely always. Always working safely in accordance with the OHS Act Perform any other relevant duties as required by the Company. Repairing existing road furniture (Cables, hazard markers, kilo markers and fence cuts). Dig holes for road furniture posts. Secure damage guardrails, signs and potholes. Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans. Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met for all motorists. Assist motorists with changing of tyres and small mechanical issues. Report all accident on the highway. Report damage rain gauge and record rainfall readings on the highway.
