Financial Controller

Axon Moore are collaborating with an exciting manufacturing company in Wigan to recruit a new Financial Controller.This well-established SME has made significant capex investment over the past three years, revolutionising their production processes and consistently increasing revenue month after month. They are currently in a growth phase and are focusing on what’s achievable in the next 3-5 years.The Financial Controller will be the primary finance leader on-site, directly reporting to and partnering with the Managing Director. The new hire will also have the support of a peer at a sister company and receive mentorship from an external Group FD.Key responsibilities include: Developing and managing site KPIs, producing management accounts and reports, and providing commercial insights to add value Overseeing the financial, operational, and commercial functions of the business Analysing profitability by customer and product, ensuring reported results align with the costing system Ensuring compliance with tax, labour, and accounting regulations, and meeting external audit requirements Defining and calculating standard costs (e.g., hourly rates, raw materials) and controlling updates of variables needed for tariffs, pricing, and quotations Ensuring compliance with internal regulations, particularly for Group Audit requirements Maintaining weekly oversight of cost and margin trackers Leading a thorough forecasting process to guide future business decisions Managing a small finance team The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a solid manufacturing background, capable of driving efficiencies, developing site KPIs, and advising on strategy.Our local Lancashire Axon Moore team recruit all accounting and finance roles from CFO to transactional finance on both a temporary and permanent basis.
