Job Title : Desktop Support Engineer Location : Chennai Job Type : Full-Time | Work from Office Shift Timing : Flexible (Rotational Shifts, including day and night shifts as per business requirements) Job Summary : We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Fresher Desktop Support Engineers to join our dynamic IT team in Chennai. Preferred Qualification : - CCNA Certification (Added Advantage) Key Responsibilities : - Provide first-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, remote assistance, or in-person visits for hardware, software, and network-related issues. - Diagnose and troubleshoot a wide range of desktop, laptop, and peripheral device problems, including operating system errors, application malfunctions, and hardware failures. - Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop computers, including operating systems (Windows, macOS), standard software applications (e.g, Microsoft Office Suite), and security software. - Set up and maintain printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices, ensuring proper functionality and connectivity. - Assist users with basic network connectivity issues, including troubleshooting Wi-Fi and wired network problems, and understanding basic network concepts like DNS and DHCP. - Perform basic operating system installations, upgrades, and patching. - Follow established procedures and knowledge base articles to resolve common technical issues. -Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior support staff or specialized teams, providing detailed information for efficient resolution. - Maintain accurate records of all support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the ticketing system. - Contribute to the creation and maintenance of knowledge base articles and documentation for common issues and solutions. - Assist with inventory management of IT hardware and software assets. - Adhere to company IT policies and procedures. - Maintain a clean and organized workspace. - Be willing to work in rotational shifts as per the business needs, which may include day and night shifts. Skills & Attributes Required : - Strong foundational knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts. - Basic understanding of DNS (Domain Name System) and DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). - Familiarity with installing and configuring Windows and/or macOS operating systems. - Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic hardware and software problems effectively. - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users. - Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-centric approach and a positive attitude towards helping others. - Proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to take ownership of issues. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a professional demeanor. - Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and processes. - Flexibility to work in rotational shifts, including day and night shifts, as required. - Ability to manage workload efficiently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities in Detail : - End-User Support : Provide timely and effective technical assistance to end-users experiencing IT-related issues. This includes responding to support requests, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions. - Hardware and Software Management : Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other peripheral devices. Ensure that all hardware and software are functioning correctly and are up-to-date. - Network Support : Assist users with basic network connectivity issues, including troubleshooting wired and wireless connections. Understand basic network configurations and escalate complex network problems to the appropriate team. - Operating System Management : Perform basic installations, upgrades, and patching of operating systems (Windows and/or macOS) on end-user devices. - Documentation and Ticketing : Maintain accurate records of all support interactions, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the designated ticketing system. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of knowledge base articles. - Collaboration and Escalation : Work effectively with other members of the IT team and escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior engineers or specialized teams, providing all necessary information for efficient resolution. - Learning and Development : Continuously learn and develop your technical skills through on-the-job training, mentorship, and available learning resources. Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in desktop support. Technical Skills (Entry-Level Expectations) : - Basic understanding of computer hardware components (CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, etc.) - Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS operating systems. - Basic knowledge of common software applications (e.g, Microsoft Office Suite, web browsers). - Understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi). - Basic troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and network issues. - Familiarity with remote desktop support tools.
