We seek a State Tax Accountant to manage multi-state tax compliance, focusing on sales and use tax. Job Summary: The State Tax Accountant will prepare and file state and local sales tax returns, maintain compliance with evolving tax regulations, manage audits, and optimize tax reporting processes. Key Responsibilities State & Local Sales and Use Tax Compliance Prepare and file multi-state sales & use tax returns. Research and ensure compliance with changing tax laws . Manage exemption certificates and tax-exempt transactions. Monitor tax nexus and assist with state tax registrations. Tax Reconciliation & Reporting Reconcile sales tax liabilities with financial records. Ensure timely and accurate tax remittances. Improve tax reporting processes for efficiency. State Tax Audits & Notices Respond to tax authority inquiries and audits. Prepare supporting documentation and coordinate with external advisors. Implement audit risk mitigation strategies. Process Improvement & Compliance Management Track legislative changes affecting state taxes. Work with internal teams to enhance tax data accuracy. Qualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a plus). Experience: 3-5 years in state and local tax compliance, focusing on sales & use tax Technical Skills: Expertise in multi-state sales tax regulations. Experience with ERP system M2M a plus Strong Excel skills for reconciliation and analysis. Soft Skills: Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
