Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Inpatient Emergency Care Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 6:45pm-7:15am Experience: - License: RN - Single State or Multi-state Compact Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Preferred Must-Have: Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills; Ability to function in a fast-paced environment; Excellent time management and critical thinking skills; Basic computer skills Description: The RN Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. The nurse ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through a Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. It is expected that all RNs are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the nursing practice as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act and implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient and system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Engage in exemplary practice and outcomes. Perform the Nursing Process, including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in clinical care using evidence-based practice. Provide relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. Always partner with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose. Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration in fiscally responsible ways. Participate in performance improvement inclusive of all stakeholders, research, and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care. Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment and mandatory education. Serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses and staff. Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing. Uphold healthcare system/organizational policies and procedures and clinical competencies. Participate in data collection and consult appropriate experts and resources. Proactively plan for the care of patients across the care continuum. Participate in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes. Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources. Perform additional duties as assigned. Comply with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
